As a part of our new site, we will regularly spotlight other ministries who are helping equip believers to love God and love people more. Our first Partner Highlight is Summit VIII. The Christian Alliance for Orphans’ annual Summit has become the national hub for what Christianity Today recently called, “the burgeoning Christian orphan care movement.”
Summit VIII on May 3-4, 2012 at Saddleback Church in Southern California is expected to draw 1,800 to 2,000 pastors, grassroots advocates, organizational leaders and church ministry heads. Alongside more than eighty workshops, the unforgettable plenary sessions will include Francis Chan, Rick and Kay Warren, Crawford Lorritts, Dennis Rainey, Steven Curtis Chapman, and other global leaders. Summit inspires, equips and connects for adoption, foster care and global orphan ministry.
Additionally, Unthinkable will have a very active roll in this year’s event. On the first day, we will premiere our brand new documentary Faultless: The American Orphan. On the second day of Summit, Jonathan and Jesse will be teaching a workshop entitled “Making Media Matter.” Below is a brief explanation on their workshop from the official Summit website:
Join two young filmmakers to explore how an orphan care ministry can make media matter for its work. This workshop will show how the unique perspectives of a ministry leader wanting to articulate a message and a film maker wanting to create excellent media can work together for the greater good of a cause. This session will include practical ways to partner with media creatives in your community and an open Q&A session.
We hope you will check out more information about Summit by visiting their website now. If you feel led, we’d love for you to consider attending the conference with us! If you think you might want to go, get in touch with us. We would love to see you at Summit!
